1.  Do you ever create hidden messages in your work? Explain.

Generally I don't. When you’re doing work for clients you’ve sort of got to put your own feelings and motives aside if you want to do a really good job for them. For my own work I certainly like to have subtle things, but the point of graphic design is communication, so I don’t really see the point of having things hidden in there that only I will ever know about.

2.  If your creative work were edible, what would it taste like?

Get a packet of Jolly Ranchers and put them all in your mouth at the same time.

3. What inspires you?

Some designers talk about how music inspires them or some architecture or whatever. I’ve never been able to really draw a connection between things like that with design. For me, I get inspired by feelings. If I look at something (another design, art, photo, whatever) and it gives me a certain feeling, I’ll try to design something that recreates that feeling again for me (even though it will probably look very different to the source that inspired it).
