BIOGRAPHY

Name: Mayumi Miyasato

Credentials: Working towards a Cinema & Television Arts B.A. with a focus on Multimedia. Plan on graduating in Fall 2010.

Why Multimedia?:In 2007, I was a student at Santa Monica College studying to become a Journalist. I worked as a staff writer for the school paper, The Corsair, for a few years.

I was also interning at a Public Relations Boutique, Press Kitchen, in Venice Beach writing press releases for production companies. Part of the process of writing a press release was interviewing the directors and editors who worked on the projects. Through these interviews I realized I was more interested in the idea of doing what they were doing instead of writing about what they were doing.

So a few months later, I changed my major from Journalism to Cinema & Television Arts! From there I narrowed it down to Multimedia, since I wanted to incorporate all forms of entertainment technology into my degree.

Programs?: Avid Express Pro, Final Cut Pro, Photoshop CS4, Dreamweaver CS4, Adobe Audition, Microsoft Office Suite. Irfran View.

Other Experience?: Worked as staff writer on school paper. Interned at Public Relations Boutique, Press Kitchen. Interned as a production assistant for public access television at Time Warner studios in Santa Monica. I've also helped produce and write scripts for a couple of television class projects.

Future Goals?: I'm always striving to improve my web-design skills. I am also working on learning more about editing video.

What else is cool about MayuMiya?: I am fluent in Spanish and can speak and write some Japanese. I enjoy traveling, this year I went to Spain and Guatemala, next year I intend on visiting Argentina and Chile! I enjoy taking photographs with my Nikon DSLR camera. I also love baking sweets and trying out new restaurants in the Los Angeles area.
