7th Grade Science
Class Schedule & Routine for Ms. Klipfel
2004/2005

To insure student success, the schedule for science class and for homework will be consistent. These are the schedules.

Class Schedule - Homework Schedule - Schedule/Rules - Consequences - Grades

Weekly Class Schedule

Monday planner, vocabulary & lecture
Tuesday lecture & activity
Wednesday experiment in science lab or in classroom
Thursday PAT: earned review game
Friday review & quiz

Every Monday, students will copy the weekly homework assignments into their planner. Students and parents will need to refer to the planner each school night to confirm the assignment. Every several weeks, I will check students’ planners to verify that the weekly assignments have been recorded. A planner grade will be given with each planner check.

Weekly Homework Schedule

Monday Read text, take Cornell Notes, and answer questions for assigned pages in textbook.
Tuesday Read text, take notes, and answer questions for assigned pages in textbook.
Wednesday Complete worksheet.
Thursday Study for Friday’s quiz. Click here for study techniques.

Students will read their planner before beginning their homework. Students need to establish a nightly routine of checking their planners to plan their after school schedule. Homework assignments will be collected on a random basis. Occasionally, the students will correct their assignments in class. Sometimes, the homework will be collected and graded by the teacher. Homework is mandatory. Late work is not accepted. For example, Monday night’s homework is due Tuesday. When an absent student returns with an excused readmit, her/his homework will be accepted based on the absence(s).

Daily Schedule/Class Rules

1. Students will be in their assigned seats before the bell rings.
2. Students will be prepared everyday. Students will have a three, ringed binder with dividers for each class. Students will have black or blue pens, #2 pencils, colored pencils, and plenty of lined paper.
3. Students will read the agenda that is written on the chalkboard.
4. Students will follow the agenda instructions. For example, the students will open up their binder to their homework assignments and take out their pens.
5. Students will write the standard heading on each assignment. If there is no name on a paper, it will be thrown away.
6. Students will write in cursive (handwriting).
7. Students will save all of their work either for the entire school work or for the science unit in their binder.
8. Students will raise their hands and wait to be called on.
9. Students will respect the teacher, students, and property in the classroom.
10. Students will remain in their seats unless they have received permission to get up.

Behavioral Consequences

If a student breaks a class rule or is unprepared, one or more of the following consequences will be
earned by that student.

• warning
• time out: in room#2 or to another classroom
• detention after school to be served on a Tuesday, Thursday, or Friday for 10 to 30 minutes
• clean classroom
• write standards
• complete work

Failure to serve the detention within two weeks will result in the loss of an activity or lab or the student will receive an office referral.

• parent contact: phone call, letter, conference
• office referral

Grades

Grades are earned by points. A homework assignment will usually worth between 15 and 40 points. A quiz will usually be worth between 25 and 75 points. A laboratory report will be worth 15 and 40 points. There will be approximately 1,000 points each trimester earned from the following work:

• homework
• lab experiments

• class work
• activities
• binder checks
