Interview with Web Designer

1.Do you think that creativity is part of human nature or is it something that must be nurtured and learned? Please explain your answer.
I think creativity is part of human nature, but it can be improved with lots of practice. Everybody can be creative, people just need different outlets to show their creativity in my opinion. Creativity can be painting a picture, coming up with new dance moves, or coming up with a new idea for a business. People have different strengths in different areas, but I think everybody has some kind of creativity in them.
2. What made you decide to follow a creative career choice (though possibly risky) rather than something more stable?
I decided to be a web designer, because I started doing it when I was 15 and had a passion for it. After a few years I got pretty good at it and websites have become important marketing tools for companies, which creates a need for people who can make nice web sites. It’s actually a very stable type of job, because the internet is not going anywhere any time soon and there will be a need for web sites for a long time.
3. What is your inspiration? How has personal experience influenced your creativity?
I’m inspired by web sites other people have designed and built. Just like with fashion, there are trends on the internet when it comes to web design. Certain elements on a web site can be considered “cool,” which then other web designers pick up and incorporate into their web sites. When I surf the web in my spare time, I pick up on those trends subconsciously and later use those new trends in my designs.
4. How do you know when a piece or project is finished and needs no additonal work?
I know a project is complete when I can’t think of doing anything to improve it further. I’m a perfectionist and I can find all kinds of improvement possibilities, so once I can’t I know it’s done.
5. What is playing in your CD player/Ipod right now?
Right now I’m listening to a Beach Boys CD in my car, but only because I’m bored with all the other CDs I have. I need to find some new music to listen to and burn it on a CD…
