The Dominican republic is where my family is from. It is an island by the name of Ispanola. We share this Caribbean island with Haiti.
If you ever want to visit the Dominican Republic here are some things you should know:
The People: The people are very loud and lively. They are cultural people who love to have fun by cooking, dancing, telling stories, and drinking.
The Food: The crop of choice in the island are ‘platanos’ (plantains). Dominicans love plantains, they eat them for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. If you are unfamiliar with this delicacy here is how you can make them.
The Music: The music of the island is ‘Merengue’, this is a two step dance that is very fun to dance, once you get the hang of it. We also dance ‘Bachata’ and ‘Salsa’.
The Drink: If you are ever feeling a little parched, then grab a nice cold ‘Presidente’. The Presidente beer is made in the Dominican Republic, and it is what everyone drinks. If you every feel like switching it up to hard alcohol then Brugal rum if for you.
