Professional Information

I graduated from Granada Hills High School in 1977. I received an AA degree in 1989. I transfered to C.S.U.N. and finally earned a Bachelors Degree in Liberal Studies in 1999. The Liberal Studies Major was in pursuit of a multiple-subject teaching credential. I chose to enter the Los Angeles Unified School District's own intern program and found myself at a middle school teaching mathematics, science, language arts, and history at the 6th grade level. I was doing the same thing two years later with the exception of having a prelimenary credential. (Woohoo!) I am currently teaching 6th grade math and science. I am also enrolled in a Master's degree program ( Master's of Education Technology ) at California State University Northridge.

Academic Goals

This website is the product of one of my classes in a Master's program at California State Uniersity Northridge. This two year program should be exciting, and I hope not too dificult, and equip me to better integrate technology into my teaching. More importantly, I want to enable students to use technology for their learning! This Master's may open further study into more specific use of technology in Mathematics and Science. As younger teachers come along to match energy levels with Middle School students, I would like to pursue being a teacher of teachers in this same field of integrating technology for the purpose of education.

Introduction

I am married and have two children. My wife Janet and I love the beauty of the Earth. We enjoy getting away along the California coast as well as the grandier of the mountains. California is the place to be! My son Mark and daughter Annie are active and healthy kids. Janet has home-schooled both our children in their earlier school years. They currently go to a charter school in Camarillo. We own a home in Camarillo next to California State University Channel Island.

Educational Philosophy

I believe that working as a teacher is an expression of love for my neighbor. Education opens doors of opportunity for a better life. I am into technology and using it in the classroom. I think that using technology and having my students use technology prepares them for their future. Technology offers a great way to engage students and gives them a variety of ways to express what they have learned. I hope my passion for technology will energize learning in my class room and extend their learning into college and some great careers.
