This website is much more to me than an assignment in a class. It is a work that is integral to my job. It formost is a replacement to the website that I did two years ago. A website created using nothing but layers and maybe a few tables. I want this website to be more for my sixth grade students than for anyone else. In that regard, there is much work still needed.
This website is also a reflection of my personality. I spent a lot of time on some areas where others spent no time at all. Some would have thought it a waste of time. I could have sent more time focusing on meeting the requirements of the class, but that would not allow me to focus on what is important for me.
I enjoyed the class and know that a foundation has been laid. I hope to build upon it for a long time to come. There is still so much to fill in to have this website look more like a finished product than "under construction". But it is still very much "under construction".
I think that working with css and templates has been the most challenging, nd the most beneficial. I am not yet confident in tweaking and working with these aspects of web design, but feel that I have learned a tremendous amount. I enjoy the control over the page that these give you. I hope to pick up more of the html code in the future, and how to work with it.
I will miss the fact that this class gave to me a concentrated time to work on the website. Even though that time was filled with more than enough work to do, I don't think the other classes in this cohort will give me the luxory of focusing on creating and shaping the way this site looks and works. It will now be, "a little work here and a little work there". Maybe some concentrated times between semesters and on vacation time.
I hope this site has the structure and functionality that the class entended it to have. But I hope that my students will find it user friendly and engaging in their learning process.
