My creative Geniuse is a singer/guitar player from a local band in my City called Awol Star. I wasn’t able to do a web interview so I had to do a phone one and these are the questions I asked and the notes I took for his answers:
1. If you could change one aspect of our society through your work, what would it be? I would try to make people more understanding of what is really out there. Some people have a mentality that whatever they believe is what I set in stone, but I would want to help them leave room for other options.2. You and I trade places tell me one thing i should know? I have a lot of secrets. I keep a lot of things to myself and when I start to let them go I put it in writing or in a song otherwise they won’t get told.3. Have you ever felt pressured to sensor your work due to social issues? Yeah because everybody at one point or another is always trying to please certain types of people so you change or mold yourself to please others. My band is an all Mexican band and at times we had to change on how we portrayed ourselves. On stage we are very different from each of us individually, but we must meet half ways and give up a piece of ourselves to reach a certain point of our group.4. If you could live anywhere in the world where would it be and why? I wouldn't necessarily pick one place. I need to keep moving because Iget bored very easily. I want to be everywhere and grow lots of memories. I would always want to be on the road and be out there. Eventually when I would have to settle down I wouldn't pick no other place than my bed to rest at home.5. How do you want people to remember you? Being happy because in the end that is what we are all trying to do!6. Have you ever doubted your talent? If so, why? and how did you cope with those feelings? I always doubt my talent. I believe it is human nature to doubt yourself. It is a part of a learning experience. You can’t go through life thinking you are untouchable. Someone will always be better, but should use that as a source of inspiration to continue an play harder. Get ideas for yourself, but not to copy. That is why they have that saying “Reach for the Stars” because when you have you can’t go any higher than that.7. Were you at any point in your life enlightened by an event that lead to a whole new perspective of life? Plenty! But the one I can remember the most is when my little brother was born. A few days before that my grandmother had passed on. That is when I realized that nothing gets lost without something being brought. We all eventually get passed on amongs ourselves. 8. Looking at what's been created, would you change anything about your work? No because then it wouldn’t be my work because it was probably influenced by something else. If I write a song I can go back and think it is probably stupid but that is what I felt at that time and who I was, so you can’t change the past only look forward from now on. |
