| This site explores the connection between science and art, how science is used in art, both through materials and ideas or concepts. |
Both art and science, though viewed today as distinct disciplines, have much in common. For Leonardo Da Vinci, who lived during the Renaissance, these fields were not yet distinguished as separate. Today we often see these fields at opposite poles. The creative process is important to both the fields of art and of science. The working processes, as well, have similarites in that one needs to experiment and predict what will happen with the materials.

Scientists and artists interpret the natural world and both rely upon observation. Nature has been an inspiration for art and artists for milennia. Scientists have not exhausted their exploration of it. Artists and scientists both look for order or system or pattern in their work. Both art and science help us to understand ourselves and the world around us as well as to question it. |
