Professional Information

I graduated from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo in 1996 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology.  The following year I earned my single subject teaching credential (also from Cal Poly).  I have been teaching physical education at Sequoia Middle School in Newbury Park, California since the 1997-1998 school year. It is hard to believe that 11 years have already passed since I began my teaching career.

Academic Goals

Currently I am in the process of completing the final three units of my master’s degree in Secondary Education (Curriculum and Instruction) at Cal State University, Northridge.  I love to go to school and continue to learn new things to share with my students.  Although not in the near future, I am not ruling out the idea of pursuing a doctorate!

Educational Philosophy

It is my belief that :

· Physical Education is an integral part of education and contributes to the development of the individual through carefully planned movement and physical activity.

· The school, home, and community play significant roles during a student’s life.  In this interdependent situation, the student develops the skills needed for lifelong participation in physical activity.

· Physical Education contributes to the development of the whole person through physical activity that allows for the integration of the psychomotor, cognitive, and affective learning domains.

· Healthy lifestyles are promoted through high quality programs in health, physical education, recreation, dance, and sport.
