Thinking About Law School?

I did my annotated bibliography on law school websites. The application process for law school is long and arduous. I got together some of the websites I found to be more helpful. If becoming a lawyer has ever crossed your mind, take a look at these useful websites. It will give you an idea of what to expect in law school.

Law School Admission Council Online. (2002). Law School Admission Council (15 March 2002). This is the official source for information about the LSAT (Law School Admission Test) and law school admission. This website is very informative. It has a list of test preparation materials, sample LSAT tests for you to download for FREE, it also has the complete official guide to all ABA approved law schools, as well as financial aid information. This website also gives you access to your Law School Admission Council file which informs you on the status of your application process.

GetIntoLaw. (2000). GetIntoLaw (15 March 2002). If you are wondering what it is like to attend law school, you have to look at this website! The site lisgives an example of a law student's hectic day. From the moment he/she gets up to the time they go to bed. It discusses the importance of maintaining a social life and gives some tips for success in law school. It also has an interesting section titled, "So You Want to be a Lawyer?" which I found to be very interesting.

US News. "US News 2001 Law School Rankings." (2001). Law School Rankings (15 March 2002). This site gives you the yearly law school rankings. It lists all ABA approved law schools by tier (Tier 1-Tier 4). What I liked about this site was that next to the school the viewer was able to see the average LSAT score one needs for that school and the average GPA. It then it gives you a figure of the number of applicants who fell into these categories and got accepted into the school. I was able to categorize myself based on my GPA and LSAT scores and see what possibility I had of getting accepted into that school. The sources are obtained through US News and through the law schools themselves.

Legal America Inc. "LawSchool.com." (16 March 2002).LawSchool.com (15 March 2002). This site is for law students, pre-law students, and lawyers. I found the website to be very useful. The website has a lot of pre-law information, rankings of law schools, specific law school information and LSAT information. What I really found interesting in this website was the fact that it had "Student Bar Passing Rates" If I was particularly interested in one school, I could look at the percentage of the students who pass the bar exam once they graduate from that law school.

FindLaw for Students. (2002). FindLaw for Students (15 March 2002). This website provides a thorough set of legal resources for students. It offers many pre-law resources and legal news. As well as law school information. What I found most interesting about this website was the outline and exam section. The website provides examples of exams and outlines students have submitted. This is a good way of getting an idea of what to expect in law school.
