Download
the files on the left to a folder called "tutorial_files" on
the Desktop.
- Launch
iMovie and click Create Project.
- Name
the project "tutorial" and save it on the desktop.
- Drag
the mov downloaded files to the clip drawer.
- Drag
the sound files to iTunes.
- Drag
the bitmap files to iPhoto (you must open iPhoto and drag to
the library).
- Click
the timeline button in iMovie.
- Assemble
the downloads by dragging them to the iMovie time line: all
video (from clips) to the top track (video timeline), all
bitmaps (from photos) to the top track (video timeline), and
sounds (from audio) to any of the bottom 2 tracks (audio timelines).
- Insert
Titles and Credits.
- Edit
timings by dragging, Splitting Clip at Playhead, and Editing
Volumes of audio. Experiment with other features.

the File Menu, select Export...
- Export:
To QuickTime, Format: Expert Settings...
Click
Export button, Export: Movie to QuickTime Movie, Use: Modem,
Click Options. [after each of the following, click CANCEL]:
click
Settings and Size for VIDEO to see how the video compression
can be customized--click CANCEL; click Settings for SOUND
to see how the audio compression can be customized--click
CANCEL. Name the file "qt_modem.mov" and save it in
a folder called "tutorial_export"
- Export:
To Quicktime, Format: CD-ROM
Click export button. Name the file "qt_cd.mov" and
save it in a folder called "tutorial_export"
- Export:
To QuickTime, Format: Expert Settings...
Click
Export button, Export: Movie to DV Stream, Use: DV NTSC
(American National Television System Committee) 48 kHz,
Click Options and lock the audio format. Name the
file "qt_full.dv" and save it in a folder called "tutorial_export"
- Submit "tutorial_export"
folder on a data CD.
- To burn a DVD, open iDVD and create a new project. Drag the
dv file to the window. Use the iDVD help menu if you wish to
customize the way it looks--easy!. Click the burn button.
