My Creative Genuis
1. What is your definition of creativity? I think creativity is something that can only be tapped into by people who are very in touch with themselves and who they are. You have to be completely confindent in those things before you can tap into your creative side. Creativity withstands the most criticism because it’s all based on opinion, not fact. It is only those that know who they are and accept that who are able to take the criticism, do what they will with it, and then let it go.
2. Who do you think is creative? Please explain why. Well, it’s all relative really. Creativity is purley a subjective ideal. You can not definite it or explain it because it is different for every single one of us. Painters that I look up to are: Adolphe-William Bouguereau, Alexandre Cabanel, Paul Delaroche, and Jean-Leon Gerome in France, John W. Waterhouse, Frederick Leighton, and Lawrence Alma-Tadema in England, and the American John Singer Sargent.
3. Was the way you express your creatvity now always your ambition? If so, when did you know for sure?
4. When embarking upon a project, do you preplan your entire endeavor or do you simply follow where your inspiration takes you? I paint using models, real people, so, I usually have somewhat of a preplanned idea in my head. But, of course I will always notice something once I get the model in the surroundings of my choice that I did not notice simply imagining the person there.
5. What do you think keeps your imagination from conforming to mainstream society? Please explain. Well, I enjoy painting outside as well as in more older ancient-like settings. Either that or settings that are kind of ambiguous. You don’t always need to know where the person is. Also, where I grew up and my studying of the ancient cultures and knowledge of them and fascination with them leads me to not being so fascinated with mainstream society.
6. What do you intend to achieve through your work? I intend to achieve a sense of beauty and innocence and curiosity in my paintings.
7. Who or what has helped you to persevere and not quit?
8. Do you ever do something special to prepare for expressing your creativity? Please explain.
9. Are you ever afraid or concerned about being judged by others or worried about how your creativity is perceived? No, I am not. My creativity is mine and mine alone. It is only an honor that others appreciate my work.
10. What is your best advice for someone interested in your field?
