Karen Jones Green attended University of Texas at El Paso where she received a B.A. in English and Speech. She received a M.A. in Speech Pathology from Texas Tech University, and an Ed.D. in Special Education from University of Houston.
In addition to credentials in Speech-Language Pathology, Dr. Green is also an Educational Therapist. She has years of experience in diagnosing and treating language-based learning disabilities. Dr. Green works at the university full time and works privately in a psychological and educational practice.
Dr. Green served on the Texas Licensure Board for six years and served on the ASHA Continuing Education Board for five years. She has received four Awards for Continuing Education from ASHA.
Dr. Green has worked in many different settings including
universities, public schools, private school, hospitals, psychiatric facility,
nursing homes, and private practice. Her presentations have included topics
on learning disabilities, innovative university classes, treatment in
an adolescent psychiatric facility, inservice training for the regular
education teacher, private practice, teacher beliefs concerning mainstreaming,
and language performance of Anglo and Mexican-American children.
