| Specific times will be set up for the
moderated chat, which will follow the guidelines for the
type of meeting the participants are having. Official distance classroom chats will be moderated by the course Instructor. Such meetings shall be called at times selected by the Instructor, who is to consider the local times of the participants and their scheduling needs. In fairness, rotation of the scheduled time may be arranged to accomodate all participating students. Administrative or faculty chats will be moderated by the particular person in charge of presiding such meetings. Student Council chats will be moderated by the President of the Student Council, or by any Student Council Vice President, if the President is not available to moderate. The meeting times for such chats shall be determined by the vote of the Student Council, though not to conflict with assigned class instruction periods. Students, faculty and administration of the Graduate School of World Problems are expected to abide by the rules for moderated chat, in order to ensure that time spent in the Internet Relay Chat environment is productive for all participants. Participate at assigned times. To maintain an orderly group, follow established guidelines for entries. Exact length of entries may vary somewhat from chat to chat. Ask the moderator for the specific limit to the number of lines permitted. For technical discussions this may be several lines long, depending upon the channel. However, save long entries for posting within the HyperNews environment, where persons may read your contribution at leisure without disrupting the flow of the chat. Basic guidelines for participation can be found at Virtual CSUN. The moderators may determine other rules governing IRC use together with the School Board of Trustees. |
