About me
I am a senior at California State University, Northridge.
I will be graduating in May 2002 with a B.S. in Management, and a
minor in Economics.
I was born August 26, 1979 in Edmonds, Washington.
I spent my early years in Amanda Park, Washington, a small town about
a hour's drive north of Aberdeen. When I was four, my family
moved to the Seattle area where I went to school, and graduated in
1997 from Tyee Senior High School. Go Totems!
In the Fall of 1997, I headed to Los Angeles, California
to begin college at California State University, Northridge (CSUN).
I won a four year full-ride scholarship to CSUN through the Presidental
Scholars program. Now in my fifth and last year, I'm just a presidental
scholar alumni. Time sure has flown by, and I'm getting close to graduation.
Whoa. I'm planning on attending the Masters in Business Administration
program at Cal State Northridge. After that, everything's up in the
air.
During my college years, I've been very active on campus.
I became a brother of Lambda Sigma Pi in November of 1997. Lambda
Sigma Pi is a deaf-oriented fraternity where hearing members are also welcome
as long as they want to learn sign language. I was president during
the 2000-2001 school year, and have served in a wide variety of positions
including secretary, treasurer, and pledge educator. I'm still an
active member.
I also joined the CSUN/National Center on Deafness college
bowl team, which is a trivia competition occurring every two years during
the National Association of the Deaf conference, where we play against the
National Technical Institute for the Deaf team at the Rochester Institute
of Technology in New York and Gallaudet University in Washington DC.
I was on the 1998 and 2000 teams, and will compete again in 2002.
We placed second both times, and hope to win in 2002!
I am also a founding member of the Collegiate National Association
of the Deaf, which was founded in February 2001 at New Mexico School for
the Deaf.
My hobbies: I enjoy swimming - I was on the swim team in
high school, dogs - I have a hearing dog named Otis, and travelling - I've
been to 25 states so far, and hope to touch all 50.
