Assignment #5 Interview with a Creative Web Designer

The picture to the right was taken on our wedding day. We have some many pictures of us kissing on that day. We have been married over 3 years and I still feel the same way about him as I did on that day. Thank you Bryant for taking such beautiful pictures.

Assignment #6

Interview with a Creative Genius

For this assignment I found a girl on MySpace who makes her own videos. She is still in high school but yet she is a very talented young lady. Here is a link to watch one of her videos on YouTube. Here’s what she had to say about our questions…

1. Do you think that creativity is part of human nature or is it something that must be nurtured and learned? Please explain your answer.

I believe that creativity should be nurtured from child hood. If a child was raised without any creative items around, the chances are the child will be less creative.

2.What made you decide to follow a creative career choice (though possibly risky) rather than something more stable?

I'd just love to work with things that are in the creative field because it is very fun and it feels like there is literally no wall holding you back.

3.What is your inspiration? How has personal experience influenced your creativity?

My inspiration comes from the world around me. My parents play a major role in my inspiration, along with mother nature. Tim Burton also plays a really big influence with my creativity.

4.What is your favorite creation? Please explain why you selected this one.

Well, as of now, my favorite creation is my stop motion that is 3:11. I am proud of myself for making that because I made it all by myself and I made all the characters which were, in my opinion, awesome! :D

5.What do you wish to accomplish with your art?

I'd love to make films one day that will hopefully be big, like Tim Burtons

6.How do you know when a piece or project is finished and needs no additional work?

I just do. It comes to me naturally. If I actually thought about it, I'd keep adding on to the pieces...until it clicks in my mind.

7.Have you ever been faced with negative feedback? How was this reflected in your work, if at all?

Yes I have, it upsets me a little, but as the saying goes, you can't please everyone.

8.What impact do you think that commercialism and the media has had on your work? Is this good or bad?

None that I can see yet...

9.Are you a fan of cartoons? If so, what is your favorite one?

YES! The Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy is my favorite! I also love the following ones; Courage the Cowardly Dog, Chowder, Freakazoid!, The Critic, SpongeBob Square Pants, Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends, Futurama, and Dexter's Lab.

10.What is playing in your CD player/Ipod right now?

The White Stripes "Denial Twist"

11. If you had to be any of these things, which would you like to be?
a) a member of the opposite sex, b) a clock, c) a pair of shoes, d) a duck
Please explain your choice.

A Duck, I don't want to be a male, I dislike clocks...in fact I'm working on a film piece that shows my dislike towards clocks, I don't feel like shoes gives off a very nice connotation, and I love animals so A DUCK!

12. If you only had 24 hours to live, how would you spend your day?

With my family. I'd rather not think about it haha.

For this assignment I interviewed Ben from SoCalPixels.com. I choose his website
Because it had beautiful pictures and an easy layout to navigate.
Here’s what he had to say to our questions…
1. Do you think creativity is a part of human nature or is it something that
needs to be nurtured and learned? Please explain your answer.
I believe creativity is both nature and nurtured.   In my earlier
career as a photojournalist, I am at event to document as it happened. It
required very little creativity.  In fact, I never view myself as a creative
artist type.  I always thought of myself as a photojournalist, someone who
tells a story with his photos. Three and half years ago, I start shooting weddings and portraits; I had to
study to be come more creative.  To see images from a different point of
view.  In short, I had taught myself to be creative.
2.Have you ever been faced with negative feedback? How is this reflected in
your work, if it is at all?
I have had very few negative feedbacks from my clients.  I am very
customer service oriented person.  I believe to exceed my clients¹
expectations. Of the few complaints I had, I bend backwards to take care
them.
3.What do you wish to accomplish with your art?
I would like to creative photos where my clients can treasure for a
lifetime.  As our tagline states ³creating beautiful images in order to
preserve lifetime of memories²
