Kalyan S Chakravarty has been in the field of Organizational Behavior and Human Resources Management for over three decades.
He is one professional from India who has the rare distinction of having been able to blend his brilliant academic background with decades of corporate experience and training in the management of human resources at the senior most levels.
Kalyan was born in a small industrial town in India in October 1948. While he was reared up and pampered throughout his childhood in a joint family environment, he never got derailed in his career ambitions and goals. While his early childhood interests were broad and varied, he has been continually placed in leadership positions in his life and career: from top scholastic honors during grade school; medallions, prizes, credentials, accolades galore in diverse interest areas ranging from debating, quizzing, dramatics, colloquia to responsible positions in Interact and Rotaract activities since his early childhood. Whatever he did carried his hallmark.
He received his college degree, a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry, and a Masters in Applied Psychology bagging a Gold Medal for having secured the First Position in the First Class, from the Department of Applied Psychology, University of Calcutta. He is a postgraduate in Business Management from Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore and Indian Institute of Management, Calcutta.
In the early eighties, he was the youngest guy ever in the history of the then Warner-Lambert Co., India to have risen to the level of Regional Director-Human Resources, South East Asia / India Region with the total HRD responsibilities for eleven WL affiliates in the region. He is the proud recipient of R N Bangur Memorial All India Award for significant contributions in the field of business management and human resources development. With over three decades of relevant corporate experience at the top levels in human resource management in diverse industry sectors, he gained substantial international experience both in teaching and consulting with a host of globally respected companies like
Siemens, J&J, GSK, Unilever et al. His contributions have received national recognition from almost every professional organization in the field: Indian Society for Training and Development, National HRD Network, National Management Association and various Chambers of Commerce and Industry. He is widely known and respected in the professional circles for his professional integrity and commitment in the design, development and successful implementation of a number of HR subsystems for the total management of human resources in large multinational companies and Indian Houses of repute.
Kalyan with his wife Aparna resides at Northridge, California.
