my interview with a creative genius....
I interviewed Lukela Keala, the lead singer from arguably the best Hawaiian
band out there, Ekolu.
wassup braddah, yeah i got some time..i can answer those things for you...you
when hit me up at the right time, hahaha...much love for the support, we
appreciate that, spread our music up there for us ok. Well here it is!
1. If you could be any object what would you be and why?
i would probably wanna be a sledgehammer, cause its Solid and thru all the
pounding that it does, it endures and lasts a long time!
2. What traits, if any, do you think that creative people have as compared to
people who are not creative?
Creative people are always thinking of new things or new ways to out surpass
their own or other people's expectations...i not saying that people who not
creative is dumb or anything (sorry for da pidgin), but were always trying to do
or create something new! ( i hope that makes sense)
3. How have you dealt with any criticism you have gotten because of your
creative endeavors?
We'll we been pretty blessed, we've never come across anyone that hated our
disliked our music, Our dvd that is gonna be released, shows how our fan base
has opened up to fans all over the world. On our dvd (to be released on Dec.
18th 2007)we have fans from Slovakia, Canada, Germany, Holland, Japan...and many
more other places that share their love and thoughts for our music and I
appreciate that so very much. You know, someone once told us (if you are reading
this to the class, say this in one texas accent ok, hahaha) You know Lukela, I
didn't have to be an Ekolu Fan to purchase your music, once I heard ya'll's
music, I WAS HOOKED!
4. What are your words of wisdom for someone starting out in your field?
Be ready for the long Haul and just press on, no matter what! You know being the
lead singer of Ekolu or anyband, you gotta make sure everything runs smoothly,
band trips, gig's, booking's, meetings, writing and producing new songs,
financial stuff, the different attitudes in the band...man the list goes go
on...but thru it all you have to be the one that knows how to hold everything
all together...and the only i do it is thru prayer. God has always been my
strength.
