Professional Information

I received my bachelor's degree from Texas A&M - Corpus Christi in Management Information Systems. I then began working in the technology sector in areas such as web design, networking, programming, and systems analysis. Shortly thereafter, I felt a higher calling, and decided to become a teacher. I received my teaching credential from California State University - Northridge and am currently enrolled in the Master's in Education program at CSUN as well. I am also in my second year as a Computer Science Instructor at Simi Valley High School. My classes include AP Computer Science, Computer Programming, Web Design, and Computer Applications. I also teach Web Design at the Simi Valley Adult School. I am currently enrolled in the BTSA program to receive my clear credential and the Masters Program at CSUN. I have attended several trainings to further my teaching including AP retreats, an AP Summer Institute, and additional educational technology training.

Norm Herr, Ph.D.Introduction

I love unicorns, poetry, and long walks in the park. On a serious note, I love to surf, travel, hike, surf, camp, surf, and do just about anything outdoors. Teaching is also a passion of mine, and I feel very fortunate to have found the profession.

In addition to being a new teacher, I am also a new husband and look forward to all of the blessings that both undertakings will bring to my life.

I have travelled and surfed all over the world and hope to be able to continue to do both while helping others in the process. A major goal of mine is to paricipate, and ultimately head up the organization and completion of computer labs for schools in third world countries.

Educational Philosophy

I believe in teaching students to learn how to learn. My main goal as a teacher is to enpower students in all aspects of their learning. When a student leaves my classroom, I expect them to be able to find information and basically teach themselves anything they need to know about computers and technology.

I also feel it important to share my experiences with students and help to prepare them for the University experience and life after schooling.
