Introduction
Our planet is full of unique
organisms. All have evolved via selection and other evolutionary methods and
are part of an interconnected complex that is composed of flora, fauna, and their
abiotic environments. Unfortunately, not all organisms thrive and have a chance
to be widespread. However, most reach a balance in nature; and while not all
are numerous, they still manage to survive and evolve. Humans and human
activity on the planet, however, have made it difficult for organisms on the
planet, especially those that are uncommon. One group of organisms that is
threatened by humans and their impact on the environment are members from the
genus Sarracneia. It is evident that
human actions have lead to the decline of this genus in North America.
