Academic Goals

I currently am working on my Masters in Educational Technology. My focus will be to bring what I am learning back to my school site. My hope is to be the lead teacher in the training of my colleagues in best practices for implementing technology in their classrooms. I am working with the Los Unified School District to develop online content curriculum for LAVA, the Los Angeles Virtual Academy.

Welcome to My Website!

Introduction

My name is Joan Fischer. I am an elementary teacher working in the San Fernando Valley. I have always been interested in technology and its uses in the classroom. I have taken numerous hours of professional development to learn how I can do a better job of engaging my students using technology. I have designed Web Quests, Hot lists, and Moodle shells. This web page will be my latest effort in that endeavor. I hope to fill this web page with examples of the projects that I have accomplished.

Educational Philosophy

I believe that teaching is a partnership between a student, his parents and the teacher. I have always created that partnership through collaboration. I often look to parents for guidance on how best to engage their students. My expectations for my students are set high so that they will stretch to meet them.
