Creativity is tapping into the intuition of the universe. Melissa Cordero

Creativity is being different from the "norm" or at least what people consider normal. It is not necessarily more difficult, but rather it is just looking deeper into yourself and doing something that is just "you."
David Goldman

Creative Web Designer Interview

    PropellerMediaWorks: Bill Jaztrand

  1. When was the first time that you remember realizing that you are a creative person?
    1. When I drew a stick figure flip book in elementary school
  2. When did you know that this was what you wanted to do with your life? How did you get started?
    1. I got started by buying a computer and started fiddling. But I’m still not sure if this is what I want to do with my life.
  3. What traits, if any, do you think that creative people have as compared to people who are not creative?
    1. Everyone is creative. But often times people with extraordinary unique talents, lack an outlet. What I love about my job is that the media we create is in large part built on the creativity of our clients and therefore represents their individual creativity.
  4. Do believe that your training has influenced what you create?
    1. Of course, but its hard to say in what way. There is a great deal of thought that go in to what I produce, and many of those thoughts are about what other people think… Follow? This is definitely a job where the customer is always right, so I’m constantly trying to modify my work to fit their needs.
  5. Have you ever felt that your personal expectations have limited your creativity? If so, how have you dealt with this?
    1. (Not Answered)
  6. Have other people supported or inspired you? Please explain.
    1. (Not Answered)
  7. How have you dealt with any criticism you have gotten because of your creative endeavors?
    1. Its very hard sometimes, to understand completely what the customer wants. Everyone communicates differently and when for what ever reason, we’re unable to really connect with a customer, tempers flare and things become critical. In such a case I’m usually able to get to the root of the problem and make the necessary changes. Every once in a while however, I’ll have to refer a client to a different designer.
  8. Do you ever feel that you have to censor your creativity because you don't want to offend anyone?
    1. (Not Answered)
  9. Do you do anything special to get your "creative juices" flowing? Please explain.
    1. (Not Answered)
  10. Does your work convey a specific emotion or message?
    1. (Not Answered)
  11. If you could be any object, what would you be? Why?
    1. A wall so I could fall and stop obstructing people from what they never get to experience.
  12. What are your words of wisdom for someone starting out in your field?
    1. Just start fiddling. Classes help but nothing beats experience in this field. Oh and, if you find yourself thinking “this would be so much easier if…” chances are that “if” exists. Sometimes discovering the “if” will end up complicating things, but the experience will be greatly beneficial. Just keep fiddling.

Creative Genus Interview

    Travis Chatham:

  1. When was the first time that you remember realizing that you are a creative person?
    1. I am not a creative person, people say I am because they don’t think like me.
  2. When did you know that this was what you wanted to do with your life? How did you get started?
    1. People always say you gotta love what you do for a living. Well somebody once paid me for doing what I do in my free time. Suddenly a lot of people started to and now here I am.
  3. What traits, if any, do you think that creative people have as compared to people who are not creative?
    1. Everyone is creative. Ever heard the term Idiot savant? Society typically gives such a label to mentally challenged individuals that produce something that is the consequent of a thought they don’t have. The thing is if you’re not bipolar for example, you won’t think like someone who is. So anything they produce that you would not have thought to is therefore creative.
  4. Do believe that your training has influenced what you create?
    1. Experience is defiantly reflected in my work. In a way, my art illustrates my varying levels of maturity.
  5. Have you ever felt that your personal expectations have limited your creativity? If so, how have you dealt with this?
    1. My personal expectations have limited what I create in the sense that I will not finish or show work that I am unsatisfied with.
  6. Have other people supported or inspired you? Please explain.
    1. (Not Answered)
  7. How have you dealt with any criticism you have gotten because of your creative endeavors?
    1. I ignore it. No matter what is produced, someone somewhere will not like it. But this only gives me another experience from which to draw on… draw on sorry for the pun.
  8. Do you ever feel that you have to censor your creativity because you don't want to offend anyone?
    1. No, excuse the expression, but fuck ‘em.
  9. Do you do anything special to get your "creative juices" flowing? Please explain.
    1. Not so much, like I said before, you perceive me as creative because my thoughts are different than yours. Do you do anything to think the way you do?
  10. Does your work convey a specific emotion or message?
    1. Yeah, I guess. It conveys what I feel at the time.
  11. If you could be any object, what would you be? Why?
    1. A pomegranate, cuz have you ever had a pomegranate… they look like you shouldn’t be able to do anything with em, but open them up and you have got some deliciously messy fruit. I think of myself sort of the same way… plain and boring on the outside, but a big old mess of stuff on the inside.
  12. What are your words of wisdom for someone starting out in your field?
    1. Step one: pick up pen, step two: apply pen to paper, step three: move pen however you see fit!
