Submit:
You have been invited to speak at conference for
pre-service math teachers. Your
topic is ÒTeaching Geometry for Understanding,Ó and you want to make clear two
important polarities:
Induction vs. deduction
Informal proof vs. formal proof
Write an explanation for each of these four
terms that would help beginning math teachers understand them and how they
differ from their Òopposites.Ó Use
at least one example for each (which you may get from the NCTM readings,
another source, or your head).
