á          NCTM Geometry Standards for EITHER Grades 6-8  OR  9-12 (your choice)

á          NCTM Reasoning/Proof Standards for EITHER Grades 6-8  OR  9-12

Both are available at  www.nctm.org (You should already have purchased a membership or at least opened a 120-day trial membership.)

 

Submit:

You have been invited to speak at conference for pre-service math teachers.  Your topic is ÒTeaching Geometry for Understanding,Ó and you want to make clear two important polarities:

 

Induction vs. deduction

 

Informal proof vs. formal proof

 

Write an explanation for each of these four terms that would help beginning math teachers understand them and how they differ from their Òopposites.Ó  Use at least one example for each (which you may get from the NCTM readings, another source, or your head).

á          Continue to work on your One-Day Lesson Plan, due March 9. 

á          Bring a draft of your One-day Plan to class next week.  Time will be given for small-group consultation on these.
