Polymorphic Viruses

• If a virus is able to change its appearance it is called a polymorphic virus.

• Simple ones that choose between a few variants are easy to deal with by treating them as seperate viruses.

• Truly polymorphic viruses sprinkle useless bits of random code around. (adding zero to a number; jump to next instruction)

  • These can make something truly hard to identify and handle.
