The Music Group

Creativity is being different from the "norm" or at least what people consider normal. It is not necessarily more difficult, but rather it is just looking deeper into yourself and doing something that is just "you." David Goldman

Creativity is thinking outside the box - in whatever field or project you are in. Jessie Douglass-Smith

For our group project we wanted to  see the

effects of different types of music on creativity.

We played a variety of genres of music including,

relaxing yoga music, classic rock, classical, and trance.

Students painted a separate picture inspired by each type of music.

The results are what you see!

                                Relaxing Music

A painted picture with a bright yellow and red flower and green and blue lines. Next to it is a cup of pretzels and a pen on a desk.Professor Hardy is holding up a picture that she painted of a yellow ladybug, a red rose, and a blue flower... students can be seen looking into the camera in the background.A painted picture that has a black border and green bamboo-like paint on the inside.A trippy picture of black, white and grey lines all blended together with a palet of red, blue, and yellow paints on the desk.

Classic Rock

Kimberly painting a swirly painting in red while another student reaches for paint from a palet of red, blue, and yellow paints.Gina painting her interpretation of classic rock with red paints while sipping on a coffee..also munching on some pretzels.A colorful palet of blue, purple, and green with a white flying v guitar and black speaker and few black musical notes... To the right, is a brick-like painting using marroon, white, and black.

Classical Music

Tanya draws her idea of what classical music looks like as a picture. It looks like a two lane blacktop road with white lines.Jenilee draws a colorful blast of gold and pink merging together to show her interpretation of classical music.James draws a picture that almmost looks like a Pollock painting with blotches of colors all over the page. The colors include, blue, red, yellow, and black. The skydiver, Jennifer, draws a simple hand with a peach color to possibly represent a conductor waving his batton in an orchestra.Large, wide stripes of bright red and blue painted diagonally as the background. On top of the stripes are seven thick polkadots of brown paint.Donna holding a 3-D hexagonal shape with each square having different color ranging form red to yellow to orange to blue.

Trance

Jo paints a lavendar background with a bright red starburst over it. To represent trance music someone drew a little red monster with its arms and legs spread out. The little guy almost looks like elmo. Kimberly paints a trippy circular picture with many colors containing pinks, purples on the outside and reds and yellows on the inside. Donna draws two little black dogs on the left and two black boots with red socks.A student hand prints his hand with a red thumb, yellow fingers and a blue paw.Tanya paints random dots with all the colors of the rainbow all over the page.
