Current Research Projects
The Research Programme currently has the following research projects
being carried out by our members:
- Japan and Korea as receiving countries of migrant women,
especially marriage migrants. Seiko Hanochi and Kinohide
Mushakoji. This is a joint project with other scholars from Korea,
Japan, the Philippines and Vietnam.
- Leadership training for migrant women in Korea and Japan - Seiko
Hanochi and Kinohide Mushakoji - This is a companion project
associated with the study of Japan and Korea as receiving countries
for women migrants.
- Study of Transnational Citizenship and Gender in the transnational
organization Consejo Consultivo del Instituto Mexicano del Exterior,
CC-IME, an advisory group to the Mexican government composed of
elected members of the Mexican diaspora in the United States.
Research is being conducted by Laura Gonzalez and Jane Bayes
- Women and Leadership around the World. This ongoing project
involves collecting interviews with women leaders around the world
focusing on their paths to political participation, their strategies
and their achievements. The plan is to archive these interviews in a
digital archive that will provide examples of innovative leadership
with regard to specific issues such as human trafficking, sexual
violence, women's health education, women's literacy, women's
environmental consciousness.
- Human Trafficking and Human Security in the United States. This
is a book project currently underway to summarize what is known about
sex trafficking in the United States, the non governmental
organizatons that are concerned with it, the governmental agencies
that are involved and the current policy situation - Jane Bayes,
Imelda Buncab and Jennifer Musto
