Meetings
Since its inception in 1998, the ISSC-GGD has made use of a variety
of national and international meetings to organize panels to advance
our research projects. A list of these meetings appears in our Annual
Reports on this website. For the period 2005-2006, four major
ISSC-GGD meetings are planned. All relate to our particular research
focus on Gender and Migration and Sexual Trafficking and Human
Security for the years 2003-2006.
- A Conference on Gender and Migration in Central and North
America to be held in 2005 in Costa Rica. Exact date is not yet
known.
- The ISSC-GGD has been granted the status of "Cooperating
Organization" with the International Studies Association and will be
holding panels at the ISA meetings in March 2005 in Hawai'i on
Gender and Migration and on Empire and Democracy.
- The ISSC-GGD will be conducting a joint meeting with the the 9th
International Interdisciplinary Congress on Women to be held in
Seoul, Korea, June 19 - June 24, 2005. The congress will be
co-hosted by: the Korean Association of Women's Studies, Ewha Womans
University in affiliation with Worldwide Organization of Women's
Studies (www.fss.uu.nl/wows). The
congress will be also co-sponsored by Korea's Ministry of Gender
Equality (www.moge.go.kr)
Dr. Bang Soon Yoon will be organizing and chairing a panel on Global
Sex-Trafficking and NGO Activism: Current Issues and Policy
Development."
- In July 2006, the ISSC-GGD will culminate its series of
international conferences on Gender and Migration and Sexual
Trafficking and Human Security with a join meeting between the
ISSC-GGD and the International Political Science Association in
Fukuoka, Japan.
