My Teaching Philosophy:  I am a strong believer of Albert Bandura's Social Learning Theory.  The theory states that children learn by modeling.  As a teacher, we are those student's model.  And I believe that children learn significant lessons simply by observing their teachers. I believe that we, teachers, can make a difference in the lives of the children we touch, by being a strong, positive role model for them.

One of the reasons I became a teacher is so that I can make a positive impact in the lives of the students I serve.  I plan to commit myself to ongoing professional and personal development so that I can provide quality instruction to each and every one one of the students I have the privilage of serving. I plan to get to know and treat each of my students as an individual and to provide a nurturing, safe and rigorous learning environment, where each student can thrive and reach their maximum potential.
About Me:  I am a graduate of California State University, Northridge, where I earned my bachelor's degree in Liberal Arts with a concentration in English as a Second Language.  I also earned a degree in Administration of Justice in 1996, but have since decided that my true passion lies in teaching.

I have worked for LA Unified as a regular classroom assistant and special education assistant.  I am a very lucky woman.  I have been fortunate enough to have been part of a wonderful team of supportive staff and administrators for the last two years at Cantara Elementary in Reseda, where I have taught second and fifth grade, respectively. Next school year, I will be teaching first grade so that I will be allowed to do my second semester student teaching in my own classroom. I am currently working on my prelimary credential at CSUN and hope to be done in the fall semester.
About EED 515:  Possibly, the most challenging course of my life, this class has proven to be quite useful.  In this class, I have for the first time, used computer-based technology to plan, create and learn how to manage instrucion and documents.  This site was created as a tool to enhance our knowledge about computers as well as to provide an alternative method of communication with our community.
