ESSAY II DUE

Essay III Topic distributed

Essays (90 points total): There are 3 take-home essays, each 30 points and about 3 pages long. Essays I and II are due by 8:30 p.m. For each class session late, your essay loses 10 points, no exceptions. You may submit Essays I and II to me by email. Emailed essays must be in my inbox and printable by my computer by 8:30 p.m. the day due–no exceptions. "Time sent" records from your computer will not save you from the late penalty. I will reply to let you know I received it. Essay III is your Final Exam and is due in my office by 8:00 p.m. the day of the final. You may NOT email Essay III to me.

Presentations (20 points): There is an in-class 5 minute presentation. You will explain and research one article from Annual Editions. You will choose your article on 3-24. It is your responsibility to contact me if you are absent that evening. There is no make-up if you miss your presentation.

In-class summary notes (40 points total): Each night marked above there are 4 points possible. Take down the main points of the discussion and lecture in class. These notes should show me you have grasped the main points. I will collect a total of 11. You have 11 chances (44 points possible) to earn 40 points. To earn the credit for the notes you must be in class on time and stay for the entire session. You must include your name on your notes. There are no make-ups for missing in-class notes.

There are a total of 150 points possible in the course:

3 take-home essays (30 points each): 90 points (60%)

1 in-class presentation (20 points): 20 points (13%)

In-class notes (4 points each) 40 points (27%)

Your final plus/minus grade will be calculated according to this scale:

A = 139-150 points C+ = 117-119 points

A- = 135-138 points C = 109-116 points

B+ = 132-134 points C- = 105-108 points
