Where do theories of nationalism and subjectivity intersect? Do established or emerging theories of cultural identity and individual identity complement or conflict with one another? Where do specific political agendas intersect with these theories? How do radical theories of social-political revolution connect with theories of postmodern subjectivities? How do these intersections complicate a more standard notion of identity politics, ethnicity, race, gender, or sexuality? How are these theoretical questions framed within literary texts? The editors are interested in articles that take a comparative approach as well as those that focus on the literature of individual nations. Send abstracts by Dec. 15 (complete articles due April 30) to Lynn Domina, 58 Lexington, Franklin Square, NY 11010 or Peter Naccarato, 31-15 21st Ave., 3A, Astoria, NY 11105.
