*From the printed call for papers: '... We kindly invite all those researchers who, in one way or another, come across ballad traditions in their research to participate in this conference.

We especially welcome researchers whose work is interdisciplinary or who are tackling comparative research on a specific folk ballad tradition (be it in Europe or elsewhere) which is somehow linked to the Slovenian ballad tradition.

Beside the research aspect of the conference, we would like to present to you Slovenia as a country which, with a modest territory, offers the sea, mountains, plains, limestone fields (a typical region in Slovenia called Karst) and lakes, cultural monuments etc. We shall prepare an interesting cultural evening with folk singers, musicians and interpreters of ballads.

All papers, if possible, delivered at the conference will be issued in an anthology.'

The venue is in the Alps, and I can vouch that it really is a very beautiful country. Maybe see you there.... Tom
