"The accounting profession is going through very significant changes and to be involved in the leadership, makes for really exciting times. I am really looking forward to the next couple of years," Macklin said.
Gregg R. Wind, president of the LA chapter of the California Society of CPAs and a Northridge alum, said that he welcomes Macklin's appointment.
"Jim is an icon and a tireless member of the board of directors and the executive board," said Wind. "He's a guy who's done it all and brings a very wide perspective on the table."
Macklin, a CPA licensed in California and New York, currently holds the vice president position for the California Society of CPAs. As a former audit partner at Arthur Andersen LLP specializing in financial institutions, he also maintains a consulting and litigation support practice.
Macklin is chair member of the board of directors of the Accounting Awareness Program (ACAP) in Los Angeles. The program introduces minority high school students to career opportunities in the accounting profession.
Macklin has received the Society's Faculty Merit Award, the Los Angeles Chapter's Distinguished Service Award and a recipient of the Professor of the Year Award at CSUN.
The California Society of CPAs is a nonprofit organization with 30,000 members statewide. Founded in 1909, the organization provides leadership and resources to those in the CPA profession. The organization has approximately 10 percent of the membership of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), the organization's governing body.
