CSUN to Host Workshop for High School Students
With Learning Disabilities Heading to College

(NORTHRIDGE, Calif.) - Cal State Northridge will host a two-day workshop Aug. 6 and 7 for high school students diagnosed with learning disabilities or attention deficit disorder who plan to attend college.

"Making the College Leap" will provide valuable information to students and their families concerned about the preparation and potential of these students

The workshop costs $145 per person and includes meals and accommodations.

The workshop will take place from 8 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. on Aug. 6 and from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Aug. 7. It will provide information on college life and an opportunity to meet other students. Topics include accommodations, study skills, legal issues, financial aid, rehabilitation services, career expectations and curriculum preparation.

Keynote speaker Jeanne Kincaid, a disability law authority, will discuss ways students can make an effective transition to college. Kincaid writes and lectures widely in the area of disability law and education and serves as a due process special education hearing officer and certified mediator for the state of New Hampshire.
