The event will begin at 2 p.m. at CSUN's North Campus on the corner of Zelzah Avenue and Devonshire Street. The fireworks display - the Valley's largest - will begin at 9 p.m. and feature fireworks by some of the state's top pyrotechnical experts.
The celebration will include music, food and entertainment. KIIS 102.7, this year's radio partner, will be on site to play today's music along with live performances by Jericho Big Band and Carnes County (country music). Other entertainment will include a magic show, choreography by Kenny Kids Klub, a classic car show display, game booths and carnival rides.
Tickets for the event will be $8 for adults and $5 for children and seniors. Discount tickets may be purchased in advance at the CSUN Student Union or the Chatsworth, Northridge and Granada Hills Chambers of Commerce.
A portion of the proceeds will benefit the San Fernando Valley's "Meet Each Need with Dignity" (M.E.N.D), a non-profit organization that provides a variety of social services including food and clothing programs, employment, drug rehabilitation, family counseling and medical services.
Other sponsors include Budweiser, The Los Angeles Times Valley Edition, Time Warner Communications and Re/Max.
