CSUN Offers Credential Program for Teachers With Emergency Permit

Cal State Northridge is offering a secondary education internship program for teachers who have received an emergency permit.

The fall program runs for two years including summer sessions, and will ultimately lead to a single subject, cross-cultural language, academic development credential (CLAD) or a bilingual, cross-cultural language, academic develpment credential (BCLAD).

A CLAD credential allows students to teach English-speaking students, English-as-a-Second-Language students and those with limited English. A BCLAD allows students to teach English-speaking students, ESL students, limited-English students and bilingual students.

Within the program, students will be able to network with faculty and other classroom teachers; get reality-based experiences from Los Angeles Unified School district teachers and university professors; receive personalized instruction on a planned course of study; and receive one-on-one coaching from experienced classroom teachers.

For more information or to make an appointment, call the Department of Secondary Education at (818) 677-2580 or (818) 677-2581.
