New Director of Credential Preparation Office Appointed at CSUN

Cal State Northridge's College of Education has appointed Carolyn Hood the new director of its Credential Preparation Office.

Hood will oversee the operation of the office, which issues approximately 1,200 credentials each year in more than 30 fields of education.

Carolyn Ellner, dean of CSUN's College of Education, said there was an extensive national search before Hood was appointed.

"Dr. Hood's experience in the private sector will bring a new dimension to the quality of service we can provide to all our students," said Ellner.

Hood said she was looking forward to working at Northridge.

"I am very pleased to serve in this capacity and in the CSU system," said Hood. "The office plays an important role for teachers in California."

Hood's previous jobs include serving as the associate vice president for continuing education at the Community College of Southern Nevada; dean of students at Jefferson High School in Los Angeles; and director of the bachelor preparations program at Pepperdine University in Malibu.

For more information, call Hood at (818) 677-2588.
