CSUN Center on Disabilities Receives
Grant to Help Place Program On-Line

Cal State Northridge's Center on Disabilities has received a $25,000 grant from the Japanese computer company, NEC, to put its assistive technology program on-line.

Students in Los Angeles, Ireland and San Francisco, who participate in the center's Assistive Technology Applications Certificate Program (ATACP), are currently able to earn a certificate in two weeks when completing a 100-hour training course which includes lectures, demonstrations, discussions, observations and presentations on applications of assistive technology.

The on-line version of the course will be available in May 1999 worldwide and allow students to complete the program in one week.

Among those participating in the program include special education teachers, individuals with disabilities, family members, employers, and physical and occupational therapists.

For more information, call Kirk Behnke or Harry Murphy, founder and director of the Center on Disabilities, at (818) 677-2578.
