Inaugural Dinner to Honor College Football Coaches

Cal State Northridge's Matador Football team will honor two former college football coaches, Terry Donahue from UCLA and John Robinson from USC, at an inaugural fundraising dinner "Legends of the Game" on Friday, Aug.14.

"We are excited about Terry Donahue and John Robinson taking time to talk about football which will benefit Matador athletics," said Matador football coach Ron Ponciano, who anticipates an estimated 300 guests. "These two coaches are icons in the game of college football and we are extremely honored to have them at our inaugural dinner."

Donahue coached at UCLA from 1976 to 1995 and holds the record for coaching the most victories in UCLA history and is a two-time Pac 10 Coach of the Year.

Robinson coached at USC between 1976 and 1982 only to return and coach from 1993 to 1997. He has coached two Heisman trophy winners and a Lombardi Award recipient.

Also included in the dinner will be a silent auctioning of a 1998 Superbowl football autographed by members of the Denver Broncos; a jersey signed by Barry Sanders; vacation packages; and premiere golf packages at California resorts.

The dinner begins at 6 p.m. Admission is $125 per person, or participants can become corporate partners with larger donations and receive several fringe benefits.
