CSUN Throws Picnic to Celebrate New School Year

(NORTHRIDGE, Calif., Aug. 13, 2004) -- It's the start of an exciting new academic year, and Cal State Northridge officials are throwing a picnic to welcome new and returning students to the campus.

The celebration will take place Thursday, Aug. 26, in front of the Student Services Building on the west side of the campus at 18111 Nordhoff St. in Northridge.

The festivities--which will feature free food, live entertainment and a chance to learn about the university's various student clubs and organizations--will be split in two to accommodate students who can only take classes at night. The celebration will take place from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. and again from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m.

In addition to enjoying food and music, students will get a chance to talk with Northridge President Jolene Koester and other university officials.

Classes for the fall 2004 semester begin Monday, Aug. 23.
