CSUN's TeenAge Drama Workshop
Presents Summer Plays for Youth

(NORTHRIDGE, Calif., July 10, 2001) - Cal State Northridge's 44th annual TeenAge Drama Workshop (TADW) will present three children's theatre productions from July 18 through Aug. 4.

The three shows will feature the talents of 83 teenagers between the ages of 12 and 18, as well as the TADW's professional production staff.

The shows are Alice in Wonderland, Fiddler on the Roof Jr., and a 10 Minute Play Festival featuring plays written by TADW students in the playwriting class.

Performances will be held in Nordhoff Hall on the southeast side of campus, 18111 Nordhoff St., Northridge.

Lewis Carroll's Alice in Wonderland will be performed at 11 a.m. July 19, 25, 27 and 28, and Aug. 1 and 2; at 2 p.m. July 20 and 26, and Aug. 3; and at 7 p.m. July 18, 21 and 27.

Fiddler on the Roof Jr. will be performed at 11 a.m. July 21, 25 and 27, and Aug. 1, 2 and 4; at 2 p.m. July 28 and Aug. 3; and at 7 p.m. July 20, 21, 26 and 28.

The 10 Minute Play Festival Program A will be performed at 7 p.m. Aug. 1 and 3. Program B will show at 7 p.m. Aug. 2 and 4.

The TeenAge Drama Workshop is a six-week summer program for students 12 to 18 years of age. The workshop combines four hours of daily instruction in acting, voice, movement, musical theatre, technical theatre and improvisation with production programs that present live theatre to audiences in the San Fernando Valley.

Since its establishment in 1957, the TADW has had more than 4,000 participants, many of whom have gone on to successfully pursue entertainment careers. Among the program's alumni are actors Robert Englund, Bill Irwin, Wendi Jo Sperber and Mare Winningham.

California State University, Northridge has more than 29,000 full- and part-time students and offers 58 bachelor's and 50 master's degrees. Founded in 1958, it is the only four-year university in the San Fernando Valley.
