The preschoolers and kindergartners in Child and Family Studies Center Lab School will get a chance to find out when members of the Cabrillo Marine Aquarium visit the school on Friday, June 29.

"They are bringing a touch tank so the children will have an opportunity to learn what some sea critters actually feel like," said Barbara Hill, director of the center. "Anything a child can actually touch, rather than just sitting and listening to something, makes the learning experience much more meaningful for the kids."

In addition to the touch tank, the aquarium's staff will also answer the youngsters' questions about sea life.

The aquarium will give three presentations to the children, at 9 a.m., 10 a.m. and 11 a.m. The school is located at 18330 Halsted St. in Northridge.

The Lab School serves preschool and kindergarten children. The school and the center are part of CSUN's Department of Family Environmental Sciences and are dedicated to fostering the growth and development of the whole child, as well as forming a partnership with the child's family. The school also serves as a learning environment for CSUN students interested in working with children.

California State University, Northridge has more than 29,000 full- and part-time students and offers 58 bachelor's and 50 master's degrees. Founded in 1958, it is the only four-year university in the San Fernando Valley.
