CSUN to Host 21st Annual Athletic Hall of Fame Banquet

(NORTHRIDGE, Calif., Aug. 10, 2001) - The Anaheim Angelsı Adam Kennedy and softball star Scia Maumausolo are among the Cal State Northridge alumni being honored Sunday, Sept. 23, at the intercollegiate athleticsı annual Hall of Fame banquet.

The evening will begin with cocktails at 4:30 p.m. Dinner will be served at 5:30 p.m. followed by the awards ceremony at the Airtel Plaza Hotel, located at 7277 Valjean Ave., Van Nuys.

In addition to Kennedy, who played baseball for CSUN from 1995 to 1997, and Maumausolo, who played softball for the university from 1993 to 1996 and now plays for the Orlando Wahoos, those being honored include Judith Brame, former womenıs basketball coach and associate athletics director; Dr. Patricia De La Riva (basketball, 1978 to 1982); Rosemarie Finnigan Rahn (volleyball, 1974 to 1976); Joel Schaeffer (football, 1962 to 1964), and the late Frank Slaton, who played baseball for CSUN from 1970 through 1971. Slaton was with the team when it won the NCAA Division II World Series in 1970.

Special service awards will be presented to athleticsı boosters Jim Gorman and Tom Hutchison, as well as Vic Batastini, who will be honored as Booster of the Year.

Coach of the Year awards will be given to Bobby Braswell, head coach for menıs basketball, and Gary Victor, the head coach for womenıs tennis.

Admission is $45 per person or $400 per table.
