'Matador Mania '99' Swings for Benefit Auction

(NORTHRIDGE, Calif.) - Cal State Northridge's Athletic Department will swing into action Saturday, June 5, with Matador Mania '99, a benefit auction and dinner to raise money for scholarships and other needs, starting at 6 p.m. in the Matadome.

This is the sixth year the department has held the event and organizers promise this year's event will have its fair share of fun and entertainment.

With swing dancing as the theme, the evening will feature a 14-piece band and dancing demonstration sure to tap those hidden dancing shoes. For those not interested in catching the beat, a "casino" also will be available.

Every year, organizers assemble and donate a centerpiece to a local charity. The Northridge Medical Center's children's ward will receive this year's centerpiece, a stuffed bear donated by Applause Inc. in a balloon configuration provided by Memorable Moments.

Matador Mania '99 includes a buffet dinner, partially donated by Command Performance Catering, and a live auction to benefit the Athletics Department.

Tickets for the dinner event is $40 per person.

The Matadome is located on the east side of the campus at 18111 Nordhoff St. in Northridge.
