CSUN Exhibit Offers Opportunity to Explore
Korean Art, Culture

(NORTHRIDGE, Calif.) - A Fifth century replica of the Shilla gold crown, a 16th century wood printing block and ornamental pendants and dagger will be on display in Cal State Northridge's Oviatt Library lobby from April 23 to May 28.

The exhibit, titled "Mi: Beauty in Korean Art and Culture," is a rare opportunity to explore Korean art and culture. The exhibit also includes a display of historical artifacts, such as instruments used for Korean calligraphy, pottery and embroidery.

A gala opening reception will kick off the exhibit at 6 p.m. on Friday, April 23. The evening will include traditional Korean dances by the Jung Im Lee Korean Dance Academy, Korean food and drinks and a demonstration by Soo-Hyoung (Kim) Choi on how to create Chinese and Korean calligraphy. The event is free.

The exhibition is the first of a series of Korean cultural events planned at CSUN this year. Other events will include performances and an exhibit of traditional masks and puppets.

The library exhibit is sponsored by the University Library, Friends of the Oviatt Library and the Korean Cultural Center.

For more information about the exhibit, call Cindy Ventuleth, CSUN University Library Director of Development, at (818) 677-2635 or email her at cindy.ventuleth@csun.edu.
