'Check Out' CSUN's Annual Goodwill Donation Drive

(NORTHRIDGE, Calif.) - As winter fades away and the school year winds down, thoughts turn to sunshine, flowers and spring cleaning.

Cal State Northridge's University Recycling Program and Goodwill Industries have teamed up to make the cleaning part of spring a little easier.

Goodwill Industries will be collecting recyclable items at the university for its annual Check-Out Donation Drive May 22 - June 6.

"The drive, geared to students 'checking out' of their dorms, will give everyone a chance to recycle all type of household items that are no longer needed or wanted," said Cyndi Signett, CSUN's recycling coordinator.

The items collected by Goodwill will be sold to raise money for job training and vocational rehabilitation programs for people with physical and developmental disabilities, she said.

Donations will be accepted at the southeast corner of Lindley Avenue and Lassen Street, student Lot T, daily from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. An attendant will be on duty to issue receipts for tax purposes.

For more information, call Signett at (818) 677-2477.

Cal State Northridge has about 27,000 full- and part-time students, offering 48 bachelor's and 39 master's degrees. Founded in 1958, CSUN is celebrating its 40th anniversary and is the only four-year university in the San Fernando Valley.
