CSUN Symposium Examines Life After 40

NORTHRIDGE, Calif. - The quality of life for people over 40 does not have to be full of aches and pains. With a little advice on health issues and a little planning for your golden years, being over 40 could be the best time of your life.

Cal State Northridge's Center for Sports Medicine is offering an all-day symposium that will provide information on health issues and strategies on how to tackle financial needs on Saturday, April 10.

"This is a good opportunity for individuals as well as health care professionals to obtain high quality information in simple terms that is not overwhelming and an opportunity to get involved and try the latest exercise such as Tai Chi," said Steven Loy, CSUN health sciences and kinesiology professor.

Experts will offer practical information on nutrition, arthritis, hearing options, pharmacy demands, exercise, fall prevention, depression, Alzheimer's Disease as well as financial advice on how to handle retirement funds and how to budget money for long-term care.

The symposium will also provide an opportunity to learn some of the latest exercises, including Tai Chi and resistance training for older adults.

The symposium will take place at the Warner Center Marriott Hotel located one-half mile north of the 101 Freeway on Oxnard Street near Topanga Canyon Boulevard.

Registration forms can be picked up at the CSUN Center for Sports Medicine or at the Fitness Store located in Granada Hills.
