"These awards honor business leaders who support the goals and objectives of the university," said William R. Hosek, dean of the College of Business Administration and Economics. "They set the examples for students to follow."
This is the fourth year the college has recognized local business leaders for their contributions to the university.
Farmer's Insurance Group is this year's recipient of the Corporate Leadership Award is for its outstanding commitment to the college - both in financial support and volunteer leadership efforts. Farmer's Insurance Group has provided ongoing support for the college's Business Student Equity Center, an organization created to enhance the recruitment, retention and career placement of demographically diverse and Educational Opportunity Program students.
Robin Rousselet is the recipient of the Alumni Leadership Award. Rousselet, the chief financial officer with The Voit Companies, is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the California Society of Certified Public Accountants and the Financial Executives Institute. His ties CSUN including serving as a member of the Council of Business Advisors, the Department of Accounting and MIS Advisory Council and on the board of directors of the CSUN President's Associates.
Ruth and Robert Pushkin will receive the Community Leadership Award for their creation of The Steven M. Pushkin Endowment, which has provided generous support to the university. Endowment, established in 1992 in memory of their son, has provided scholarships to the university's Minority Business Program and supports the Steven M. Pushkin Lecture Series.
Previous leadership award winners include such companies as Xerox and Bank of America. These companies have provided real-life examples for students by encouraging individual company members to volunteer their time to sit on college advisory boards to help faculty members with curriculum, explore career options for students, and provide corporate advice, internships, support and jobs to CSUN graduates.
The awards will be presented at a special luncheon from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on June 14 in the Grand Salon located at the University Student Union on the east side of the campus at 18111 Nordhoff St., Northridge.
