Politicians, professional advocates and community activists will explore those issues and more at the "1997 Ending Violence Against Women Conference" on Thursday, April 3, at Cal State Northridge.
The daylong conference will begin at 8 a.m. in the University Student Union on the east side of the campus at 18111 Nordhoff St. in Northridge.
Workshops include sessions on violence against women with disabilities and women of color, same-sex domestic violence, legislative and community action strategies for change, welfare and poverty, female genital mutilation in the United States, date rape, drugs, sweatshops and field workers, and child custody, move-away bills and divorce mediation.
The conference will also feature the first statewide showing of "The Clothesline Project," an international collection of T-shirts decorated by a survivor, family member of friend of a victim of violence.
