CSUN Offers Look at Chicana Life in "Luminarias"

Love, life, race and politics provide the humorous background to four Chicana friends in Luminarias, a contemporary play to run in the Little Theatre at Cal State Northridge on April 4 - 13.

The play, written by Evelina Fernandez and directed by Jose Luis Valenzuela, explores the contradictions of life for Chicano women who exist on many borders of race, culture, sex, career and religion.

Valenzuela is well known to the Los Angeles theatre community as the artistic director and founder of the Latino Theatre Company.

General admission is $9 ($5 for students and seniors). Tickets can be purchased at the Associated Student ticket office at CSUN, Ticket Master, and at the door two hours prior to curtain.

Performance times are at 8 p.m. Thursday - Saturday, 7 p.m. on Wednesday, and 5 p.m. on Sundays in the Little Theatre located at 18111 Nordhoff St. in Northridge.

For more information, call the Theatre Department at (818) 677-2024.
